Recuva is a great open-source (free) program to use for data recovery. However, like ALL data recover programs (even those ones you pay for), there is no guarantee that you will get all of your information back. It all depends on what has been overwritten.
However, having tested many programs (both free and paid for), Recuva is one of the best options for most users. After installing, you can choose to search for only video files (.avi & .mpg, .mpeg, .mp4, etc) or any other file type you are looking for.
Like I said, it does not matter how much you pay for a data recovery program if the data you are trying to get back has been overwritten multiple times. To really understand this concept, you would have to understand how data is written to your hard drive, which is kind of difficult to explain without a few hours of free time, so I hope you’ll take my word for it. That being said, Recuva can do just as good a job as any of those programs that require you to pay before you can recover.

You can try to recover all your files, including video files, with Easy Drive Data Recovery software:http://www.munsoft.com/EasyDriveDataReco…
It uses unique modern algorithms to recover files that other software either recovers incorrectly or is unable to detect.
