It’s a terabyte HD so there’s ALOT of lost data and I want it ALL back

I reccommend Recuva (pronounced “recover”), it is a freeware Windows utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted by bugs, crashes and viruses!
There are two kinds of people: those who have experienced data loss, and those who will. Remember the 3 rules of computing. 1) Back up 2) Back up 3) Back up.

I recommend BCWipe, which lets you permanently wipe only the free space on your hard drive while leaving the non-deleted files intact by overwriting those deleted files with lots of random data so it can’t be recovered.
While BCWipe is something you run periodically, there’s also software to let you do this on the fly, essentially replacing the recycle bin with the equivalent of a paper shredder that wipes any file you delete for good. If you install one, tread with caution: Once you delete something, even by mistake, there’s no going back. Simple File Shredder is a good (and free) choice to check out.
If you want to erase everything from your hard drive, I recommend Active@ KillDisk. This free utility conforms to US Department of Defense clearing and sanitizing standard DoD 5220.22-M.

first person to give me a link to the download that works gets 10 points. The HD is an IPOD 80GB transferring USB. I’d like to get pictures from our vacation off there. The IPOD crashed, also is that a monthly problem for others?

I have reason to believe these are the safest options:
a) Remove the hard-drive, add it to another functional unit and transfer all the data to external portable hard-drive. Once data is secured, then do a complete re-install of operating system on problem computer.
b) Create Windows startup disk, use disk at startup effectively bypassing the “broken” startup files. Once into computer, manually move important data to external portable hard-drive.http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/510… (Option #1)
Does this second option risk any further problems or loss of data??? I can’t risk the loss of any data.
What is my safest option? I am under no time-contraints to do either option. Either action would be performed by knowledgable computer techie.
Any additional comments or things to be aware of?

i have installed data recovery software to recover my deleted images.i found names of those images but i am not able to view those images.no preview.what can i do?which is better software for dta recovery?
