Computer Repair, A Major Headache
Everyone who has ever had a computer has most likely needed to check out at least one type of computer repair at some point. These repairs can cost a small fortune even for a small problem, and they can be time consuming to say the least.
Computers can present you with at least a hundred different hardware and software problems on a regular basis. The most common is a keyboard issue, most probably caused by a coffee spill. On a desktop this is simple to fix with a new keyboard. On a laptop, this is indeed a serious and expensive issue.
Anyone who surfs the web, needs to open attachments even from trusted sources, or uses any type of streaming video is bound to end up with a virus, no matter how diligent you are in using your antivirus and malware programs. Even with daily updates, a virus is going to sneak through sooner or later.
Repairs can be lengthy, and certainly expensive. If you have an extended warranty on your computer you are most likely covered for most problems. But if you have a virus, some protection plans don’t cover the time and expense it takes to clean up your hard drive. They like to blame it on you because they believe the right software could have prevented the problem.
It’s not impossible, however, to find out that you also backed up the virus as well. Just make sure if use this method that the antivirus program on that computer is completely up to date before downloading any backed up files. Programs that allow you to access your computer from another remote computer may not help at all since the remote computer would simply be seeing the exact same thing.
The problem, of course, is that you may have unwittingly uploaded the virus, too. It may not be evident until it’s too late. Make sure that the antivirus software on the second computer is completely updated before attempting any bulk downloads.
Computer problems don’t necessarily need to be caused by a virus. Either way, you will probably need to have your computer looked at by a real professional. Just bringing it in can start off around $150.
Any type of research or basic testing will usually start off at about $149 and easily increase depending on the type of problem. This is only for the time and labor; materials are extra.
